Hello to everyone, just wanted to ask for a little help, or maybe just enlighten you with my dilemma... I was driving home with my three yr old daughter and she took one big sneeze, as usual I went to say God bless you, but she stopped me and said, "wait mom, say salud(spanish for bless you) to me", so I did. Her response was "gracias"(spanish for thank you), so then she proceeds to tell me, "say de nada(spanish for you're welcome) ok", so I diligently said so, but just then she suddenly stopped and said to me, "wait a minute mom, how do you sneeze in spanish?" I couldn't help but laugh and said, "honey you sneeze the same way, there is no difference." Oh, my she was not having it, she said "no way, there has to be a way to do it in spanish, because the words are different so the sheeze has to be different." I had a good 5 minute drive listening to her different sneezes to make sound in spanish. When we got home she asked me to find out from people that knew more spanish than me, how to sneeze in spanish?
I have Dora and Diego to thank for my child's bilingual confusion. We are all bilingual in my house, inlcuding my 3yr old, even if she can't sneeze in spanish.
